I'm sort of like... I really like Marvel but not quite intensely enough to consider myself hardcore fandom? Like I'm more of a Captain America fan than anything else - it's, to me at least, the part of the franchise that offers the best social commentary, particularly in regards to technology, national identity and American colonialism. Plus Bucky gives me all the sads. But yeah team Peggy all the way. I am so here for that show.
I bought the show on iTunes just to do my part of supporting the show. Everyone at Marvel loves it and is open for more but ratings are unfortunately still an issue. I'm all here for Agent Carter.
I definitely though the CA films would be all 'gun grapefruit america!!!' but I'm SO GLAD they didn't go that way. I love the parts of the first film where they mock the patriotism and expose the corruption of that - y'know, Nazi's have propaganda but Captain America is just patriotism.
CA:TWS was just 2 hours of pain and sads and Bisexual Steve Rogers™ and I've still not adequately processed the emotional turmoil. I'd be really excited for them to super humanise Bucky in upcoming films and do a really accurate portrayal of recovery/mental illness, but I'm not gonna get too excited (Sebastian Stan is a good actor, but do I trust writers? probs not).
The reason ratings for Agent Carter are an issue is simple: it is not available legally outwith the US. Thus a pretty significant fan following cannot access it.
I also think a big part of why i like the CA movies also is that Chris Evans is just such a dork. What a meatball, honestly.
Additionally, I'd kill a man for a Black Widow origin movie. Or tv show. I'll settle for anything.
